Abijah–

Conscious reggae lyricist Abijah is coming back in a big way with his newest track, The Rootsman.

This track will serve as the title track on his upcoming album, set to be released officially between late March and early April. The track sheds light on social, political and religious issues.

“I was inspired by the things I keep seeing happening around me, lack of care for each other and a lot of selfish decisions being forced on our own people daily,” he said.

The roots reggae artiste is best known for his first hit single, Revelation. The 2003 release held a steady number one on the Jamaican charts for 30 weeks.

His most recent album was Moving 2 The Top in 2008, which featured collaborations with dancehall artiste Beenie Man and US singer Tevin Campbell.

The singer is working closely with Blessed Morning Productions, who were the sole producers on this forthcoming album, for which roughly 10 songs have been completed.

Approximately six additional songs will complete the highly anticipated project.

Plans are in place for a few collaborations, including legendary artiste King Yellowman, who was instrumental in his connection with the label.

“My expectations are simply greatness. It’s been a long time that my fans have been awaiting new music from Abijah. I’m happy to see how it’s all coming together, and I expect nothing less than success,” he said.

The artiste is in discussions regarding an upcoming tour, with appearances at a few local shows.

The song is getting heavy rotation on the Foundation Radio Network and its affiliations. A music video is also in the works for The Rootsman and is expected to drop within the next month.
