As the season heats up, Jamaican dancehall superstar Busy Signal serves up “Margarita,” the quintessential ode to everyone’s favorite summertime cool-off beverage. Busy Signal, ever the ice cold lyricist, transports the listener to a tropical paradise with the laidback party vibes of his brand new single, out now via Nuh Rush Records / Gorilla Music Source, distributed by Tuff Gong International. On his latest tune, the hitmaker deejay’s distinct vocals are echoed by steel pan phrases over the sparsely arranged dancehall rhythm produced by Nuh Rush chief Junior Brown and Gorilla Music President Reanno Gordon (pka Busy Signal).
Busy acknowledges the beautiful simplicity of it all on the tune’s sing-along chorus: MargaritaA few shots with iceFeeling so niceA the Caribbean styleEverybody get wild enjoyMargarita On each steel pan flourish, you can picture ice cubes hitting the glass as Busy Signal’s signature rasp blends the whole concoction into the flavorful “Margarita.” Handcrafted for your beach or backyard bbq playlist, Busy breaks down the origins of the concept: “‘Margarita’ came about one night after I had been in the studio recording. I stepped out to grab something from the kitchen where I saw a Margarita bottle and immediately the idea to write the song came. I went back in the studio where the team and I started to structure the beat and then I recorded the song that same night. This song to me carries a fun vibe. It’s a drink that a lot of people like so the idea came having a tropical vibe with a tropical sound for people to now enjoy the music while having the drink. I believe that ‘Margarita”will represent a wider range of ethnicity as well as the drink itself, bringing fun and a nice summer vibe — just having good time.”
Busy simultaneously released a companion lyric video on his YouTube channel to match the chill vibes of the song. The fun new animated visuals bring “Margarita” to life, courtesy of Damaniac Visualz. We have a lot more projects together that will be released in due time,” said Busy on the the fruitful relationship. “We hope fans will enjoy this track and feel the vibes and energy we felt from the time we started recording to the moment it was completed,” added No Rush chief Junior Brown.
