Welcome to another of my ramblings….phew! it is over, really over! From September until now…First, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and that Santa was good to everyone, I had a wonderful, peaceful time with a few loved ones… you know, as I get older, it is becoming more and more clearer to me that time spent with family is so much more meaningful than any gift can be. And when there is no money, you can find time spend together more creative and enjoyable. Bottom line, I had a good family time. In the past few weeks, I’ve learned so much technology that I am becoming a little (rather) a “biggie techie” to myself. On Christmas day, Georgia showed me how to send greetings to multi friends all at once. At increments of ten, I was able to send greetings and best wishes to more friends and colleagues than prior Christmases. However, my biggest lesson in technology is my venture into the world of the blog! I am learning more as each day goes by, and thanks for the suggestions a lot of you are leaving on the comment board, all are appreciated, and will be addressed as soon as I learn how to do some of these suggestions!
While watching some television yesterday (26) I was shocked to see they were running so many more commercials for more sales and discounts at all the major stores, I really thought the sale and sale pitch were over…is this pure greed or what? when is enough, enough? …the retailers have come up with all kinds of techniques to get shoppers into their stores, and sadly enough, the public is blind to the tricks “Black Friday” Cyber Monday” “Small Business Saturday” and all the other in-between, are all designed to grab people (especially women) in this spending frenzy, making them spend what they don’t have….I am the first to tell you that I am not the shopping kind, as a matter of fact, I always try to wiggle my way out of going to any mall with Georgia, and when I fail, I just stay in the parking lot listening to radio or catching up on a newspaper, and if I forced into a store, the first seat me see, I am clapping my butt down into it! She keeps telling me shopping is in a woman’s DNA…yeah, whatever, just leave me out of it! I keep telling her how I can’t understand why she has to go into a million shoe store to buy one pair of shoes, when for me the first 2 shoe stores I go must have a pair that fit me, I don’t need to go into all of shoe stores in the mall…she claims I am a boring shopper! boring shopper? and how when I am with her “you just kill my vibe” and you know I never asked to go with her? For the most the part though, she goes it alone, except when she is not too sure of the mall’s location and she wants a live navigator, or the mall is way out of our area, this is a woman who will travel miles for a ”good deal”…and as she says, “retailers love we” I guess I am spoiled because all my life, I always have grandmothers, aunts, sister, and wife, who do the shopping for me, so I never got into this addictive habit called, shopping!
Here I pay extra to get the ad-free channels, they are just overbearing here and I think much worse on some channels in the US. By the way, I must be missing a gene in my DNA because I so do not like shopping unless it’s an electronics store! … 🙂
Happy New Year to you and your family, Clinton!
