A recent single from emerging Dancehall superstar, Popcaanhas drawn the eyre of Jamaica’s Broadcasting Commission; resulting in its removal from local airwaves.

Nuh Box Pon Jaw, a song recorded last October on the UIM Records produced Nymphomaniac Riddim will no longer play on Jamaican radio and television following the Commission’s decision that the track’s content promoted violence. The Broadcasting Commission advised Popcaanregarding his violation; announcing on Friday their reasoning for the ban.

In a press release, the Commission explained that, “The Commission, in November 2011, determined that the song was transmitted in breach of the Children’s Code for Programming as the song in totality endorses violence as a means of resolving conflict and under the Code attracts a V4 (D) rating. Material attracting a V4 (D) rating should not be transmitted on broadcastradio or television at any time.”

U.I.M Records main producer, Andrew Myrie aka Anju Blaxx intimated that he knew of the suspension and plans to take actions against the Commission.

“Disc jocks from different stations have told me they can’t play the song because the Broadcasting Commission has come down on them, ’cause they say the song is promoting violence,” he told the Jamaica STAR.

According to Myrie, the song does not promote violence in any way, shape or form.

“I don’t think it is. It’s a song about defending yourself and not taking things from people but not promoting violence against anyone. But the Broadcasting Commission knows what’s right for people to hear, so we will have to be more mindful of that and more creative,”he said.

This past November, I-Octane faced an almost identical fate when ZIP FM axed his controversial single, Informer a Workfrom its airwaves just days after the song’s release. However, the Broadcasting Commission never took action against the song nor its accompanying video which was released last month.

Meanwhile, Popcaan will release a videofor his recently released single, Naughty Girl that was also produced byAnju Blaxx. The video will be unveiled later this month or in early February.

Additionally, the Portmore Empire deejay will record a single for Anju Blaxx’s next project, the Coolie Gyal Riddim.
