The state minister in the Transport and Works Ministry RichardAzan says work will start immediately on a section of Burke Road in Spanish Town.

He said the roadwork will cost $6 million.

The repairs which will be undertaken by the National Works Agency will include the rebuilding and repair of culverts and the resurfacing of several sections along Oxford and Burke roads.

The roadways have been in a deplorable state for years but the situation worsened, after the entrance to the municipal bus park broke away.

Azan said the work is urgent as the St. Catherine Health Department has expressed concern about the accumulation of water at the location.
