BROADCASTER Wayne W Whyte on Friday appeared in the High Court Division of the Gun Court for the first time in relation to the shooting of his former lover and KOOL FM colleague Jody Ann Gray.

Whyte will next appear in court on May 25 when a bail application is expected to be made by his attorney Christopher Townsend.

The court was told Friday that the files in the matter should be served on the defence in time for the bail application. Appearing with Whyte Friday was co-accused Safari Farr.

As the case was being mentioned, Whyte’s pastor and other church brethren waited in the halls of the Supreme Court for word on his matter.

Both Whyte and Farr are charged with wounding with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.

Whyte and Farr were among three persons detained shortly after Gray was shot twice at her gate in Cedar Grove, Portmore, St Catherine, earlier this month.

Gray, who is alleged to be pregnant for Whyte, was attacked and shot once in the face and twice in the shoulder just as she drove up to her gate. She was rushed to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery to remove a bullet the following day.
