THE Thanksgiving service for Tyrone Blake, a member of the Merritone family of music fame, will be held Wednesday, May 9 at the Church of the Transfiguration at Meadowbrook Road in St Andrew.

Blake died on April 22 on his way to a brunch in St Andrew. He was 69. He is survived by brothers Trevor, Winston and Monty and two children.

His contribution to the Merritone Sound System will be recognised during the annual Meritone Family Reunion in Connecticut in July.

“We will be honouring his contribution in his own way,” older brother Winston told the Jamaica Observer.

The Merritone Sound System was founded in Morant Bay over 55 years ago by the Blakes’ father, Val Blake.
