SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. –
The wife of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman facing a second-degree murder charge after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, has been charged with perjury.
Shellie Zimmerman was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on one count of perjury.
Her bond was set at $1,000. At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, she was in the process of posting bond.
Shellie Zimmerman, 25, lied about the financial status of her and her husband during a bond hearing for George Zimmerman, according to court documents.
George Zimmerman was granted bond, but he was ordered to return to jail June 3 after his bond was revoked.
Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester said he believed the Zimmermans lied to the court in April about their finances to get a lower bond for George Zimmerman.
Another bond hearing for George Zimmerman was set for June 29.
