POLICE have confirmed that the badly burnt body found in a cane field in St James last week is that of missing Trinidadian national Michelle Coudray-Greaves.
Coudray-Greaves went missing on June 8.
The police confirmed via a release from the Constabulary Communication Network that dental records supplied to them last week to carry out investigations and establish the identity of a burnt body, have been validated by a dental expert.
“Against that background, investigators led by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area One, Devon Watkis, earlier today spoke to the Mayor of San Fernando Trinidad, Her Worship Mrs Marlene Coudray and informed her of the findings. The Police will now commence an investigation into a case of suspected abduction and a formal homicide investigation,” the release said.
A postmortem conducted on the body last week proved inconclusive, leaving investigators to seek the assistance of a second pathologist who will work closely with the first pathologist to carry out a further examination.
A man who was held last week as a person of interest, remains in police custody as the police intensify their investigations.
