Internationally revered reggae star and former lead singer of Talking Heads offshoot band Tom Tom Club, Mystic Bowie has called upon his friends for an evening of charity. On June 29th the Ridgefield Playhouse will welcome Mystic Bowie and the Dis N Dat Band, Connecticut’s favorite jam/rock band The McLovins, afro-folk/ reggae band Taj Weekes & Adowa, New Orleans native Renard Boissiere, The Family Tradition Steel Band and special guests for a great evening of music and revelry to raise funds for the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center in Jamaica.
Bowie has been committed to sharing the art of music beyond the stage, establishing the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center in 1991 dedicated to enriching the lives of the children in Jamaica through multi-cultural programs. The Center supports education, arts, music, drama, and sports and has made it their mission to find the potential in every eager child and provide opportunities for community engagement. All proceeds from the benefit concert will go towards the construction of a library at the Mystic Bowie Cultural Center, located in Accompong, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica.

All patrons are encouraged to bring books, school supplies, children’s apparel, calculators, art supplies, backpacks and electronics to be used in the newly constructed library. Donations of all kinds are being gratefully accepted. Frenchwoods Festival of The Performing Arts is donating several computers and recreational equipment.

Silent auctions will be available for all fans of music, movies and sports in attendance to bid on. Premiums include an autographed Aerosmith drumhead, autographed Rolling Stones, Beatles, Eagles and Bruce Springsteen record albums. Autographed photos of Michael Jackson, Yankee legend Yogi Berra, tennis star Jimmy Connors, autographed movie posters from The Godfather, The Avengers and more. Adventure packages will be auctioned featuring a New Orleans Jazz and Dining Experience, Napa Valley Wine Experience, London West End Theatre Experience and others. All Experiences include airfare and hotel accommodations for the winning bidders.

VIP ticket holders will be treated to a pre-show reception with complementary appetizers, a complimentary cocktail, entertainment by a Steel Drum Band and an after show meet and greet with the evenings performers. Ticket prices are VIP $55.00, Orchestra $35.00 and Mezzanine $25.00. VIP tickets are only available by phone at 203.438.5795. Orchestra and Balcony tickets may be purchased by phone and online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org or at the Ridgefield Playhouse box office. Ticket prices will increase at the box office day of show.
