NEWARK, N.J. (AP)— —
Immigration authorities say they have arrested a reggae singer who allegedly is in the country illegally.
Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Tedane Anthony Kerr at his home in Asbury Park on Monday.
Officials say Kerr also goes by the name Anthony Butler and sings under the name Teddy Brown. His website says he released a disc on the Fugitive Entertainment record label and has performed in New York, Philadelphia and at the Jersey Shore.
Customs officials say the 52-year-old entered the country in 1977 from Jamaica as a lawful permanent resident, but was ordered removed in 1997 after a conviction for aggravated assault.
An immigration judge will decide whether Kerr will be deported.
A representative for Kerr didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment Monday.
