IT was 11 years ago that singer Kafinal teamed with deejay Sambo for the hilarious hit song Cooking Dat Pwile, a revamp of Rhythm and Blues singer Blu Cantrell’s Hit Em Up Style.
Now, Kafinal is making a comeback with his latest single, Falling in Love, a lovers’ rock number he is banking on to reignite his career in Jamaica.
Kafinal, who is originally from Spanish Town, is now based in Toronto, Canada.
He got his start singing in the church as well as in school and at community events. In 2001 he made his professional debut with the songs Cooking Dat Pwile and Drive By which also had accompanying videos. However, Kafinal moved shortly after to Toronto where he made a name for himself on the dinner and concert circuits as a comedian.
Music, however, remains his first love. He says Falling in Love showcases his lyrical maturity, growth, and prowess.
Kafinal’s next live outing will be at the 22nd annual Toronto International Jamaica Day celebrations.
He will share stage with LUST, Luciano, Leroy Sibbles, and Professor Nuts.
