UP-and-coming singjay Flash Raggedy said that although it has proven difficult for him to get his break in the music industry over the past few years, he is extremely confident that his latest single I’ve Got A Dream will give him his desired recognition.
“This single speaks about the aspirations that I have not only musically, but for my life and family. I have high hopes of the song topping the charts. I was born to do this, so giving up is not an option,” Flash Raggedy told Jamaica Observer.

Flash Raggedy, whose real name his Miguel Beckford, recent releases include Have Mi, Clean, Lyrically Inclined and Summer Up.
The artist, who is in his mid-20s and hails from tough, inner-city community of Rockfort in east Kingston, said he began singing at church services and perfected his vocals throughout the years.
“My friends and family always encouraged me to pursue a career in music as I would performed for them every chance I get. In 2004, I began visiting the recording studios,” said the past student of Vauxhall High School .
He said his music is heavily influenced by his experiences.
“Growing up I was exposed to the good, the bad, and the ugly. These experiences sometimes influence my lyrics and the songs I record.”
He, however, hopes that his music will appeal to all age groups.
“My aim is to do lasting inspirational music. I want everyone from the toddler to the senior citizen to be able to dance to my songs. Reggae/dancehall music is invaluable and is one of the assets that us Jamaicans are known for. Therefore, we as artists, should do our best to keep our musical flag high,” he said.
