Garland Rowe (formerly G Whizz)

SINGER G-Whizz is taking on a name change to reflect what he says is a more mature side to his music and personality.

The artiste whose hit tune Life, earned him a legion of fans back in 2009, is now using his birth name Garland Rowe in his artistic endeavours.

ROWE… I want to also sing music which has a shelf life

“I’m going for a more mature look and sound — more one-drop beats,” he tells the Jamaica Observer. “Since 2009, I have been able to travel and see what people over the world like in terms of music. I want to also sing music which has a shelf life,” he says.

This non-disposable music will encompass a full range of themes including social commentary and of course, issues concerning to man-woman relationships.

The first single from Rowe is a cover of the Gino Vanelli ballad It Hurts To Be In Love. The track was produced by Karl Morrison of the Star Players Music Group and was specifically chosen for Rowe as it was felt it suited his vocal style and range.

Plans are currently being finalised for a video to be shot for the single.

Meanwhile, Rowe says he has been keeping busy overseas having performed in Japan and French Guiana two weeks ago where he performed alongside Wayne Wonder and R&B act Maya.
