SINGER Henry ‘Sadiki’ Buckley of The Tennors is taking some time off from the group to concentrate on his latest project, an album with British lover’s rock singer, Sandra Cross.

Titled True Singers: Sadiki Meets Sandra Cross, it is the first in a series of vocal albums Buckley plans to release on his Skinny Bwoy Jamaica label.

The album will be available digitally via iTunes on September 4.

Buckley says he ‘met’ Cross through the Myspace social network. He contacted her and soon they established a musical connection.

“She ‘demo’d’ a tune to me that was vocally perfect,” Buckley recalled.

So far, he has released one single from the album, Believe, which is co-produced by himself, Cross and Japanese reggae personality Machaco.

The song was first released in 2011 to help raise support for survivors of the earthquake that struck Japan in March that year.

A leading figure in British lover’s rock, Cross has been described as one of reggae’s best kept secrets.

Her most popular songs are I Adore, Country Living and Just a Dream.

Buckley says he is planning a series of European dates later this year with The Tennors, a group that recorded at Studio One during the 1960s.

He also hopes to launch his Sheperds House gospel label this year.
