Giving back to charity is how singer Alaine will be ringing in her birthday this year. Alaine will be celebrating her birthday live in concert at Redbones Blues Café on September 21. This will also mark the first staging of her charity event called ‘Walking on Air’.

Walking on Air is also the latest single from her new label 1Thirty1 and according to Alaine, anyone who has ever been in love can relate to the song.

“It’s a song about when you find someone you love and you are no longer walking on the floor, you’re walking higher, you’re soaring,” she said.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit two charities – Mary’s Child and the Allman Town Primary Music Department.

Alaine has been working with the Allman Town Primary for more than two years and has adopted its music education programme.

“I’ve been responsible for the Allman Town Primary music department for two and a half years. When the ministry is strapped for cash, the first thing they cut is music and drama. It’s very important when kids learn music and it has been proven that they are smarter in English and math. Mary’s Child is operated by the Mustard Seed Communities. It’s a home for teenage mothers and their babies where they go through skills training and get an education,” Alaine said.

According to Alaine, while not condoning early motherhood, the home for teen girls has continuously tugged at her heartstrings.

“I want them to know that there are second chances. That life can continue no matter what happens,” she said.

The concert will be Alaine’s first performance with her 1Thirty1 band and she promises an unforgettable experience.

“It’s gonna be amazing. I’ll be delivering hits from the past eight years as well as new music. A couple surprise guests will also be there, It’s gonna be an awesome night, awesome musical experience and at the end of the night, everybody will be walking on air,” she said.
