After a triumphant 2011 musical expedition to the US West Coast, Benjy Myaz returned and hosted the recently held Los Angeles / Jamaica’s 50th Independence Celebration, observed and executed by the creation of Los Angeles 1st Ska & Reggae Festival, a tribute to the contribution Jamaica’s music has made to the World.
As a true Jamaican Internationally known Reggae AmBassador, Benjy Myaz is a consummate recording & performing artist, a prolific songwriter/arranger/composer and a dynamic producer/musician , revered in the music hierarchy for his solo projects.
With a sure wealth of experience and not limited to his own artistry, Myaz has hit credits for an abundance of hit songs from top performers including Jimmy Cliff, Capleton, Toots & The Maytals which eventually has garnered him worldwide recognition as one of the top musicians from Jamaica, and his official title as “Jamaica’s Premiere Stateman of The Arts”.
Summer of 2011, Benjy landed in So. California and was invited & hosted by Matt Robinson (notable Celeb DJ/ A&R Record Exec/ also brother to Holly Robinson) to be a special guest/ performer on The Global Soul TV show. Also joining the appearance was Actor/Director LeVar Burton (Roots, Star Trek etc). Myaz spoke of his work with Autism and also shared a promo performance of his latest vocal hit single “Hooked On You” streamed live to a world-wide audience via the internet.
As Hollywood embraced Benjy’s appearances, the West Coast premiere of Benjy’s video for the same followed hosted by his management company, “monarchy management , at The JOINT-LA. Myaz received a warm reception as Friends, Fans and the Hollywood entertainment fraternity came out to show love and support.
Again, Benjy provided the welcoming audience with a blistering set of his hits including “Time”, “Love you Higher” and others before giving them a live rendition of the successful single “Hooked On You”, which has been enjoying success and consistent radio rotation on both coasts of the US, London and Jamaica .
Pulling triple duties, in addition to promoting the “Hooked on You” single, Benjy’s promotion team found the stamina to promote his instrumental Jazz CD “You’ve Got Me’ and bringing awareness of the Maia Chung Foundation for Autism & Disabilities, the charitable organization based in Jamaica that Benjy has adopted since the launching of You’ve Got Me in Kingston 2009.
Showcasing his skills as a virtuoso bassist while jamming with some of LA’s top R&B and Jazz musicians, including Jay “Club Nouveau” King and others, Benjy returned to the Joint’s stage a week later showcasing tracks from “You’ve Got Me”.
Covering all aspects of his promotional campaign, noted Hollywood videographer and artist, Theo Hand (Wu Tang Clan, Maloof Skating, etc) signed on as Director of Photography for the most recent photo session while doubling as Videographer for some of Myaz’s promotional events.
Benjy returned to Jamaica, kicked off his 2012 musical mission to an international audience at The Seasplash Resort on the nation’s North Coast presenting Benjy Myaz & Friends (a model of the concept to be realized and was streamed live and carried nightly via realnegril.com
Benjy’s next move landed him on set for the filming of Televison Jamaica’s (TVJ) live music series called “Layers Of Soul”. Shot over a one day period in April at the studios of TVJ in Kingston, JA, the Layers of Soul performance showed Myaz at his best, backed by a group of “hand picked” musicians and singers. Some of this shows highlights was a featured live rendition of the duet hit single “Eternal Love” with invited guest A’lisa, a My’ Werks recording artist.
Broadcast to a nationwide TV audience in June 2012, Layers Of Soul, which is produced by TVJ, has become a sensational hit within the Jamaica community and based on the reception of the invited in-studio and viewing audiences Benjy’s performance only added to growing popularity of the show.
