Stephen to launch follow-up to Grammy Award-winning effort; Rohan releases new House of Marley headphones; Cedella expands Olympic clothing line; Damian to tour Africa with Nas
It has been a busy year for the Marleys. Businessman and co-founder of Marley Coffee, Rohan Marley, recently visited South Africa to promote the release of his new headphones, House of Marley, only weeks after a media frenzy involving himself, Haitian artiste, Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill – with whom he has five children. Rohan also announced his engagement to Brazilian supermodel, Isabeli Fontana.
Designer and actress Cedella Marley teamed up with Puma to designJamaica’s winning Olympic outfit, and then segued its success into a winning fashion collection, carried exclusively at Kerry ManWomanHome in Jamaica.
Damian Marley, who started off the year on a high with the release of his mega-hit Affairs of the Heart, has recently released a collaboration with dubstep master, Skrillex, and is now set to tour Africa with hip-hop star, Nas.
Stephen Marley, who won the Grammy this year for Best Reggae Album, is now getting ready to release the follow-up to that album – Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life.
Stephen told Rolling Stone Magazine that Revelation Part 1 came about after reading about the decline of reggae music.
The five-time Grammy winner revealed that he felt the need to defend his roots and that is exactly what he did with his previous album, earning one of the most prestigious music awards for his effort.
For Revelation Part 2, Stephen is taking a different approach.
“The root is there, and we’re looking at the leaves and the branches and the stem and different veins and all these things,” Stephen said during the interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, adding that the follow-up album represents growth.
“I knew that conceptually it was not going to be a reggae album,” Stephen said.
The album is said to be somewhat of a musical evolution for the artiste and features collaborations with Wyclef Jean and rapper, Rakim.Rolling Stone describes the song featuring Wyclef, Keeper of The Flame, as a “a soulful, spacious number with an easy, melodious hook…”.
Revelation Part 2 is almost complete and the reggae crooner is expected to release a few singles from the album very soon.
Stephen also revealed to Rolling Stone that the album, like his last, was influenced by his father.
