Seminal reggae group, the Abyssinians, will perform at the Australian World Music Expo, scheduled for November 15-18 in Melbourne.

The fifth staging of the event has attracted over 60 reggae and world-beat acts from Africa, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and the Middle East.

Among them are Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 from Nigeria, Clare Bowditch, The Bamboos (Britain), The Bart Willoughby Band, Ladi6 (New Zealand) and Yasmin Levy from Israel.

The AWME will also present a music business seminar to be addressed by industry leaders.

The Abyssinians are world-famous For the 1969 song, Satta Masa Gana, as well as other roots anthems like Declaration of Rights and Forward Onto Zion.

Lead singer Bernard Collins, who wrote or co-wrote those songs, is the trio’s only original member.
