“The song teaches the youths about working hard for their dreams and not trying to solve problems with violence. The song is positive and energising,” he said.
George P, whose real name is Damion Smith, hails from the inner-city community of Grants Pen in St Andrew.
In 2007, George P was featured on Art of War — a mixtape produced by Richie Ramus — which featured Portmore Empire vs Fagan Fraternity which he was a member.
“That performance on the mixtape made me more known and respected in the dancehall for my lyrical prowess,” he said.
Apart from his latest single, George P’s other releases include: Lighter Song, My Girl, War Pree, Buss Mi Case, Outa all these Girls, and Clean Any Wey Mi Dey.
“My aim is to become the next platinum-selling artist from Jamaica. The fortitude I have developed from growing up in the Grants Pen community is the driving force that will see me through the many challenges along this path,” he said.
