He is known for high-energy performances and conscious, razor-sharp lyrics, but a few weeks ago, his fans thought those attractions may have had to be committed to memory for there would be no more to come.

Anthony B collapsed onstage shortly after his performance at a Dallas, Texas, nightclub and was hospitalised at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The artist was said to be dehydrated, a result of his hectic schedule.

Since his release, Anthony B has been recuperating and has rescheduled all tours until 2013.

“I’ve been doing great, I’ve been trying to recuperate and getting myself back at the level that I’m used to. I’m a high-energy performer so I need to get back on that level,” Anthony B told The Gleaner.

Now on the road to recovery and with all his shows moved up to the new year, Anthony B is focusing his attention on the studio and on promoting his latest album Freedom Fighter.

“The album has been doing great. Feedback has been good, sales have been good. It’s doing tremendously well,” Anthony B said of his album.

Anthony B is also busy promoting his new single Beat Dem Bad with dancehall artist Konshens.

“Konshens and I are both military soldiers. He’s a good artist and he has been my pick from long time. As one of the new ‘yutes’ of this generation, he’s definitely a great artist,” he said.

“When we say ‘beat dem bad’, we mean beat dem bad with lyrics, mi nuh want the people dem take it out a context and feel like we a talk bout literally beating people,” Anthony B went on to say.

Anthony B’s Freedom Fighter tour will commence in January in the United States before moving on to Europe in March. The tour will make stops in Italy, Germany, Poland, Serbia and other countries.

“I just want to say thanks a lot to all the fans for their prayers and their patience. Thanks also to the promoters and booking agents for their understanding. I’m happy that they didn’t feel like they were cheated out of a performance,” he said.
