A woman left her husband critically injured after ‘he didn’t vote for Republican candidate Mitt Romney’ in the US presidential election, police have said.
Holly Solomon, 27, was arrested in Gilbert, Arizona, after allegedly running over her partner Daniel following Barack Obama‘s re-election last week.
A discussion over politics turned into an argument after the woman’s husband admitted he didn’t vote in the election, authorities say.
‘According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama’s re-election,’ police said in a statement.
Mr Solomon was left in a critical condition and taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center after reportedly being chased through a parking lot before being hit by his wife’s SUV.
Police say he was pinned beneath the underside of the vehicle and a curb after attempting to hide behind a lamppost.
‘He got out of the car and she was screaming at him,’ a caller told 911.
‘He started walking away and she started driving in circles around him and she wouldn’t let him go so finally he took off to try to get away and she ran into him.’
Ms Solomon was charged with aggravated assault, while Mr Obama won Arizona by more than 200,000 votes.
