THE next staging of the Boston Jerk Festival in Portland will be filmed and shown on syndicated cable networks throughout the United States.

The event is slated for Sunday, March 31, at the Boston Community Centre.

Neira and Associates, a multimedia independent film company which operates out of Vero Beach, Florida, has a serious interest in a number of Jamaica’s culinary events and will be sending a film crew to cover the festival.

Mauricio Neira — the company’s executive director — said his numerous trips to Jamaica over the past 10 years have opened “my eyes to a new world of culinary entertainment”.

“I was at the Jamaica Curry Festival in 2010 and again in 2011. It was, however, my chance visit to the Boston Jerk Festival last year that had me thinking that Jamaica could benefit a lot by showcasing these events to an international audience,” he said.

“I have never seen anything with so much promise… so much culture… so much artistic flair… than I witnessed at the Boston Jerk Festival.”

“In the Boston Jerk Festival, Jamaica has an event that can easily be franchised off in different countries, earning millions in foreign exchange and also untold publicity,” Neira continued.
