Denyque is undoubtedly one of the Jamaica’s gems and further proof of the talent that the country has to offer. This year, the sultry songbird is looking to show the rest of the world that the small isle is still relevant in the entertainment arena.

The young artiste is getting ready to release her first official EP next month. The EP is aptly titled Her Name is Denyque as it’s the rising star’s introduction to the world stage and reintroduction to the local scene.

In an interview with The Gleaner, Denyque revealed that the six-track EP channels an R&B-pop vibe imbued with her innate reggae essence.

The EP’s internationally acclaimed producer, Ricky Blaze, is probably best known for his smash single Feel Free, but the artiste has also produced records for artistes like Jazmine Sullivan and Vybz Kartel, and has also worked with Major Lazer. The young producer also crafted Ding Dong’s Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up and produced Gyptian’s breakout hit, Hold Yuh.

According to Denyque, she is currently in talks with Clique rapper Pusha T and pop star Sean Kingston, both of whom she would love to do a remix with from the EP.

Don’t expect an album from the young belle anytime soon though, as Denyque revealed she is working on building a strong fan base before considering one.

Denyque is now busy promoting her latest single, Make Me Believe You, which was produced by Steven ‘Di Genius’ McGregor.

The single is not featured on the upcoming EP and is a groovy ballad written by Denyque, in which she tells ‘her beau’ she is not as upset about the lying as she is about the fact that it doesn’t seem like he is trying to be convincing.

“It’s pretty much asking that person to just tell the truth, or at least try to make the lie a little more convincing,” Denyque revealed.

Reciprocated the sentiment

According to Denyque, Di Genius revealed that he had always wanted to work with her and she reciprocated the sentiment.

“Working with Steven was really great! He was really helpful and he undoubtedly knows what he’s doing, so I knew the single would be good,” the rising star expressed.

The song is a winning collaboration between the two talents as the infectious rhythm blends seamlessly with Denyque’s voice.

Fans should look out for the video as Denyque revealed that she is preparing to shoot with RD Studios pretty soon.

The artist is looking to make 2013 a remarkable year for her career and is already off to a great start as she is nominated for ‘Young Hot and Hype Female of 2012’ at the Youth View Awards.

“The limit is beyond the sky this year,” she mused.
