WHEN producer Comar Campbell set about his latest ‘riddim’, he wanted to make a statement that would help establish his Frankie Music label.

The result is the Chillax, an acoustic beat ridden by some of dancehall’s top artists.

CAMPBELL… I wanted to put out a good production with some good songs

“I wanted to put out a good production with some good songs. I feel really good about what we have put out because the feedback has been really good,” said Campbell.

The songs on the Chillax are Chance (Love You Better) by Alaine; Praises by gospel singer Omari; Let Me Love You by Delus; Give Thanks from Voice Mail; Strong by Chevaughn; and Love You Forever (Drunk Confession) which is done by Konshens.

Campbell, 37, launched Frankie Music in 2007 with the Revelation Time ‘riddim’. Other beats from the label include the Coalition and My Life.

A protegé of producer Bobby ‘Bobby Digital’ Dixon, Campbell hails from Hughenden in St. Andrew.

He says Dixon — known for his work with Shabba Ranks, Garnet Silk and Morgan Heritage — made a lasting impression on his work ethic.

“I learnt a lot from being around Bobby Digital. The quality of the production is something that Bobby reinforced when he went into the studio,” said Campbell.

Frankie Music has also released Konshens and Delu’s She’s Happy and Careless Whisper by Voice Mail.
