EVER since one of his teachers at Knox College in Clarendon helped him record his first song at age 14, singer Kurt Legacy has never been far from music.

That song, Having Fun, was done with schoolmate Sean Holland and initiated by John Hacker, a music teacher at Knox.

Having Fun did well in the Cayman Islands, encouraging enough for Legacy to keep recording after graduating from high school.

Now residing in Florida for the past decade, Legacy, 25, has worked with several producers, but admits it is not all smooth sailing.

“Some of these producers would sometimes strike unacceptable deals and try to compromise my sound. I therefore decided to branch off on my own, constructed my recording studio, and then formed a production team,” said the 25-year-old vocalist.

Legacy is songwriter/producer of many songs which include Make Money, Perfect Luv, Somebody Body and If I Said.

He is currently working on his debut album, earmarked for release late this year. Legacy says posterity, not trends, drives him.

“Some of the music being played today is filled with negativity as sadly that is what sells, but for me it isn’t about the fame. It is about making music that will be fresh in the minds of others decades from now.”
