The police are asking motorists to avoid the New Kingston area, especially Knutsford Boulevard in the vicinity of the Wyndham hotel where there is a fire.
According to the police, fire fighters are still working to extinguish the fire and access to the area has been blocked off by the police.
Photos posted on social networking sites indicate that the blaze has been huge.
The York Park Fire Department says at least seven units are responding.
It also reported that the fire started about 12:30 this morning and was brought under control after about six hours.
Guests have been evacuated to the Pegasus Hotel.
There has been no report of injury.
