Conscious reggae artist Natural Black returns to the root of his sound with a slew of singles in the works for a new album.
Following a brief stint in the dancehall, the singer reclaims his rightful place and is embraced by industry and fans alike, as is evident with his upcoming bookings that include a stop at the prestigious Reggae On The River in California from August 1-4.
Born Mortimer Softley in Georgetown, Guyana, Natural Black migrated to Jamaica in 1995, in hopes of realising his dream of becoming areggae singer. Now gearing up for his 11th studio album, this dream is realised as the acclaimed singer and songwriter continues his prolific journey in reggae music.
“I’m honoured to be part of the esteemed Reggae On The River music festival,” said Black.
“I’ve been working hard in the studio to bring new music to my longtime fans, and look forward to gaining more with my new singles that I have lined up for the new album.”
Natural Black has been working with New York-based Triple T Production, a management and booking agency responsible for the Reggae On The River performance.
“We recognise his calibre of reggae music and once we contacted the festival organisers, they were interested so we made it happen,” said Tasz Smith, CEO of Triple T Production.
Natural Black will be performing alongside other reggae giants like Tarrus Riley, Morgan Heritage, Julian Marley, Anthony B and Prezident Brown, for the event’s 29th anniversary.
The artist’s year began with new singles like I’m On My Way, Natural Chronix, Who Cares For Me, Don’t Play With My Heart and Party Truck and is now working on videos in New York.
Don’t Play With My Heart, a romantic ode for the ladies and Party Truck, a fun, up-tempo joint which takes aim at the Summer will debut in April.
Natural Black’s breakout hit Far From Reality in 2006 propelled him into the limelight, and now, 10 full-length albums later, he is back in the studio.
