REGGAE singer Zacheous Jackson recently made the trek to Jamaica to introduce his music and visit family.

Born in England to Jamaican parents, the singer was promoting his latest single My Woman.

JACKSON… I find that a lot of the reggae nowadays is not very educational or uplifting to the youths

“It is a woman-empowering song that is very popular with the ladies and with the men,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Jackson, now 51, said he has seen a marked difference in the quality of music now being produced.

“I find that a lot of the reggae nowadays is not very educational or uplifting to the youths. It does not deal with the culture/heritage of our people,” said Jackson, who first visited the island at age 15.

Last year, Jackson released his album The Truth Shall Be Told where he said he addresses topics other artists rarely address.

“My slant on this whole thing is to restore a forgotten knowledge to a forgotten people as in Hosea 4:6 ‘my people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge’,” he said.

Among the featured tracks on the album are 400 Years, Fi Wi Holocaust, Conscious Music and Israelite Arise.
