FRESH from her role in the movie Just Another Friday, gospel singer Deneese Wright is promoting her latest song, I Love You.

She says it is a personal statement, recalling when God reached out to her.

WRIGHT… it’s a love letter to God

“It’s a love letter to God, just thinking about who He is and who He is in my life,” Wright told the Jamaica Observer.

Her Christian faith grew even more during the last year when she experienced medical challenges.

Wright says nine months ago while returning to Jamaica from an overseas performance, she fell ill.

Tests showed she was suffering from a pulmonary embolism which resulted in her being hospitalised for two weeks.

“The doctor said if I had delayed even one hour longer I would have been dead,” she said.

Wright has just completed production for the video to I Love You which was directed by Ariff Butler.

From Hanover in western Jamaica, Wright entered the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s Gospel Festival in 2008 with the song

No Commendation.

Since then, she has recorded other spiritual songs such as How Much Mi Want You (Jesus), I Belong To You and Di Solution. Wright recently made her film debut in Just Another Friday, playing the role of Celia.
