Top UK female dancehall selector Lady Lyrical grew up literally surrounded by music and sound equipment. Her father was a member of the famous 1960s British Band Freddie & the Dreamers that are known for the big hit How Do You Do.

Lady Lyrical spent a great deal of time travelling with her father on the road and by the time she was age twelve she knew a great deal about various aspects of the music business especially  sound engineering.

The knowledge and experienced she gained in this field along with her natural love for music prompted her to study music production at the Northampton University.

She began her foray into the world of dancehall music in 2005 when worked as a deejay on Jamrock Radio UK in Luton.

Her knowledge of music and her playing style made her very popular with listeners of the station and in no time she was getting calls from promoters to play at clubs and party events all over England.

The following year she made her international debut by playing alongside the IRIE Crew, Supersonic and Guiding Star Sound at an event in France.

In 2007 she promoted the first ever UK VS Canada sound-system clash which featured a number of top UK and Canadian selectors.

Since then Lady Lyrical has played at major dancehall events in a number of countries including Canada, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland and the USA.

Now at helm of Play Maker Sound she’s is without a doubt one of the main players in the UK sound-system arena despite being a white female.

“I’ve come a long way in this business and it hasn’t been easy at all being a white woman in this business but I love the music and I love playing it for the people. Over the years I have gathered a lot of experience in the business by working on radio, touring and playing with sound-systems like Mellow Texs from New York. Working with Play Maker has helped me to take my career to whole new level.”

Lady Lyrical has a tremendous amount of love and respect for the Dancehall culture and playing in Jamaica has long been one of her greatest dreams. On Saturday the 28th of September she will fulfill that dream when she takes on perennial Dancehall champion Ricky Trooper at Chisholm Lawn in St. Elizabeth.

“I’m really looking forward to playing for the people in Jamaica, that’s where the whole sound thing started and I really want to come over there and play for the people and have a good time. In September I will be playing in Jamaica for the first time, it’s going to be Play Maker VS Sound Trooper this will be a musical battle and I’m prepared for it,” said Lady Lyrical.
