Summerfest Productions, organiser of Reggae Sumfest has announced the addition of international hip-hop mogul Flo Rida to the line-up for International Night 1 on Friday, July 26, at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

Johnny Gourzong, executive director of Summerfest Productions, said he is impressed by Flo Rida’s catalogue of hits.

“Flo Rida is a great complement to this year’s show, he has done very well over the past few years with a lot of internationally recognised hits. We are really glad to have him on the show, he will be bringing the full experience to the festival, full band, dancers and everything, so it’s a big, full show on International Night 1,” said Gourzong.

Nominated for six Billboard Awards in 2013; and with hits such as Whistle, and I Cry from his fourth studio album Wild Ones, Flo Rida is expected to attract droves of patrons to the Second City for the 21st staging of the festival.

Wild Ones (originally titled Only One Rida (Part 2)), was released in July 2012, with four singles from the album debuting on the Billboard top 10. The track Whistle, held the No. 1 spot in 20 countries, including the United States.

Good Feeling peaked at No. 3 in the US, and topped the charts in Austria, Germany, Scotland and the United Kingdom, while making the top five in nine other countries.

Other hits from the album receiving much rave across the world are Right Round featuring Kesha, Elevator featuring Timberland and In the Ayre featuring Will. I. Am.

While quite an extensive traveller, this will be Flo Rida’s first performance on the island.

“Over the last few years, I’ve been everywhere – Africa, Japan, Greece, South America, Russia, the Middle East, Australia, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia; but never to Jamaica. I am excited,” said the hip-hop sensation.

The chart-topper will share the stage with Jamaican reggae legends Beres Hammond, Barrington Levy, Tarrus Riley and others on the festival’s International Night 1.
