Jamaican reggae artist Buju Banton is to return to the US District Court in Tampa Florida today in the ongoing jury misconduct case.
The Grammy winner, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was convicted in February of conspiring to set up a cocaine deal in Florida in 2009.
He is now seeking a new trial following the disclosure that a juror, Terri Wright, had conducted an internet research on aspects of the case during the trial.
Buju Banton and his legal team are requesting a new trial on the grounds of juror misconduct.
When the case was called up last month a computer expert told the court he had found no trace of research on Wright’s computer hard drive.
It was later revealed that she had turned over the wrong hard drive.
Judge James Moody is expected to hand down a ruling on June 26.
