SUMMER is usually a time for fun, especially for the party crowd. Singer Prissy G had the dancefloor on her mind when she recorded Let’s Party, her latest song.

Released recently by Cotton Tree Records, Let’s Party was serviced to small radio stations in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).

PRISSY G… we’re trying something different this time

Prissy G says her management decided to test the overseas market before pusing Let’s Party locally.

“We tested the local airwaves with my previous song (Rock My Boat) and it didn’t work so well, so we tried something different this time.”

The 31-year-old singer was born Priscilla Gray in Logwood, Hanover but most of her professional career has been in Montego Bay where Let’s Party was recorded.

With the party beat picking up since June, Prissy G believes it was an appropriate time to release her feel-good song.

“It’s summer and people have a lot more time to listen to music. But Let’s Party has the quality to go throughout the year,” she says.

Prissy G made her musical debut two years ago with Rock My Boat. Since then she has performed on several events in western Jamaica including the Jamaica 50th Independence Gala, Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce’s Food Fair and Bazaar.

For years, artistes from Montego Bay found it challenging to break in the bigger, more competitive Kingston market. Prissy G is not concerned.

“there was a point when that was a problem, but the environment for recording has improved so much here (in Montego Bay). I think we have changed all that,” she says.
