The sentencing of broadcaster Wayne Whyte and his co-accused Safari Farr has been delayed until next week.
The hearing got underway on Friday, as scheduled, but it was discontinued because the character witness for Farr was unavailable. Based on this development, the Presiding Magistrate adjourned the matter until next Monday.
Last month, Whyte and Farr pleaded guilty to gun charges in relation to the shooting incident involving broadcaster, Jodi-Ann Gray. Both men pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition when they appeared in the Gun Court.
Whyte and Farr who have been in custody since April 2012, were charged after Gray was shot at her home in Portmore in the central parish of St. Catherine on April 4 , 2012.
It’s reported that Gray, who was then seven months pregnant, was about to get out of her car, when she was pounced on by a man, who shot her in the face and arm.
The man escaped in a waiting car that was intercepted by the police. Whyte and Farr were arrested and later charged. A third man in the vehicle was used by the State as the key prosecution witness.
