Despite being incarcerated for almost two years, controversial deejay Vybz Kartel is still flooding the market with music.

His latest album, The Voice of The Jamaican Ghetto, was released early this month. It is also the title of Kartel’s book which has been out since June.

According to an article posted on the website www. urbanislandz.com, Michael Dawson of Whirlwind Records, who is responsible for marketing both projects, is confident the 22-track album will impact Jamaican and overseas charts.

Among the songs on The Voice of The Jamaican Ghetto are Poor People Revolution, Life We Living, Struggling and Bad Reputation.

Dawson told the website that Kartel’s legal woes have prevented him and his team from properly promoting the album and book.

The 37-year-old deejay, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, is one of dancehall’s most controversial figures, through many run-ins with the law.

His hit songs include Romping Shop (with Spice), Clarks, Freaky Gal and World Boss.

Kartel is currently on trial in Kingston’s Home Circuit Court for the July 2011 murder of Barrington Bryan.

Since he was detained on multiple homicide charges in September, 2011, many of Kartel’s songs have been released as part of compilation albums.
