GOSPEL artist Stefan Peninsilyn is continuing his musical ministry with his self-produced album God’s Angel.

Released in April, the 16-track set is on his Medikation Camp label.

PENINSILYN… the album is for any and everyone who will listen

“The album is for any and everyone who will listen. I hope it will warn, encourage, strengthen and heal this and the next generation to come,” said Peninsilyn, who is now residing in Florida.

The set features God’s Angel and Fada Jesus.

He is making preparations for his gospel play to become a low-budget film. Titled, God Ova Obeah, Peninsilyn plays the lead role opposite Sista Sasha. Sista Sasha, formerly Sasha, enjoys moderate success prior to her conversion to gospel with I’m Still in Love with You which features dancehall superstar Sean Paul.

Peninsilyn, whose given name is Stavan Whyte, came to local prominence in 2001 when he finished first in the Tastee Talent competition. In 2003 he went on to win the Jamaica Festival Song Competition with Jamaican Tour Guide. He repeated the feat the following year with Old Time Jamaica.

In an effort to broaden his scope as a singer and song writer, Peninsilyn migrated to the United States in 2006.

Peninsilyn, in recent times, has enjoyed some moderate airplay with his release Breast, Leg and Thigh.

The track draws contrasts between improperly dressed females in the church and a American fast food outlet.

He said the inspiration for that song came while he was listening to a sermon in Boston about scantily dressed females attending churches.

“By the time the preacher was finished, Breast, Leg and Thigh was finished,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

He said Florida’s reggae gospel scene is quite different from that of Jamaica, as “the unity is not there”.

“Here you have to be very focused and level-headed, or else you would get caught up in fame and not God. But I am enjoying my God, my past is behind me and now I am just doing it God’s way,” he said.
