New York-based DJT Promotions, Sunlight Productions and Global Harmony, a charity organisation which operates out of the United Kingdom, have joined forces with a number of reggae and dancehall artists to fight against domestic violence.
On Saturday August 17, they will stage the first annual White House Culture Jam at the White House Beach Park in Westmoreland.
According to George O’Gilvie of DJT Promotions, domestic violence is a very serious problem globally, and as such, he and his partners are working to help to eliminate it.
“As we all know, domestic violence is a very serious problem all over the world, it’s affecting countless people in some way or another in various countries. As responsible individuals, we will not sit down and watch this problem as it continues to grow, and do nothing about it,” said O’Gilvie.
The White House Culture Jam will be staged to raise funds for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Kingston.
“On the night of the show we are going to make presentations to the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, the Black River Hospital and the Portland Infirmary. All four institutions will be given much-needed medical supplies courtesy of DJT Promotions,” said Mr O’Gilvie.
The White House Culture Jam will be a day and night event. During the day there will be lots of activities such as a football match and a volleyball match, there will also be a special appearance by the Magnum Car Sexy Crew.
The stage show that will take place in the night will feature a host of artists including Gyptian, Lady G, Luciano, I Wayne, Lutan Fyah, Lazah Current, Sheldon Senior, Fabian Marley, Justin Hammin, Jahvahni Martin, Yahdeen Essence, Daramus, Good Head and Tiki One. All artists will be backed by the Chakula Band.
MCs will be Ron Muschette of IRIE FM and Champagne of LINKZ FM. Admission is $300 for children under 12 years old and $500 for adults, all day passes are $1300, general night passes $1000 and VIP $5000.
