In an effort to increase earnings for its consumers, Supreme Ventures began selling lottery games on Sundays and public holidays on April 1 this year. Good Friday and Christmas Day are excluded from its selling days.
The company offers its complete portfolio of games, with the standard four daily draws, including on Sundays.
The company’s flagship game, which remains a great income earner for Sunday players, is Cash Pot. Since the launch of Sunday gaming, Cash Pot winners have collectively won more than $445m.
Gary Lothian, a bus loader from the Corporate Area, said, “I can now play my favourite game seven days a week and the winnings have saved me a lot of times when it comes on to paying my bills.”
Other stories of Sunday gaming lifting Jamaicans financially can be found islandwide.
Kaniel Bennett, a higgler, said, “I play Pick 4 every day now. It can mek yuh mek a money. Mi wan get the money caw nutt’n nah gwaan fi a while.”
More Opportunities
Carl Laing spoke on the convenience of Sunday gaming. He expounded, “Having the games available on a Sunday gives us as customers more opportunities. It is more convenient to buy on a Sunday when I don’t have work.”
Retailers are also seeing the benefits from Sunday gaming. A Supreme Ventures’ games retailer in St Catherine gave high marks to Sunday sales.
“Some Sundays are even better than during the week. People spend more on a Sunday because they get paid on Friday and Saturday,” said the retailer.
“Sunday gaming has given lottery gamers the opportunity to play our games right in their communities. We have encouraged our retailers to make the games available seven days a week, with emphasis being on community shops/service stations with convenience stores and pharmacies. Our players play and win millions close to home by participating in our diverse portfolio of games,” said Sonia Davidson, vice-president of group corporate communications at Supreme Ventures.
