International reggae artist Chaka Demus has teamed up with female singer JoJo Mac to record a reggae-flavoured song called ‘I’m In Love’, which is a single from Chaka Demus’ soon-to-be-released album, Chaka Demus: Second Coming on the Fire N Ice Records label.
“Since I’m In Love was released on July 23, I have been getting a lot of positive feedback from radio stations all over the world, and by all indications, the song is going to do well in the Caribbean and European markets,” Chaka Demus said.
Chaka Demus said that he recognised JoJo Mac’s talents and decided to do a collaboration with her to boost her profile.
“JoJo Mac is a very good songwriter and a talented woman as she is also a journalist who wrote a weekly column in a newspaper. She is a friend of songwriter Winston Solomon who had written my part for Tease Me years ago. Solomon also wrote my part of the song for this single, while JoJo Mac wrote her part. I wanted to give her chance and I love how the song turned out,” he said.
JoJo Mac originally hails from Clarendon but has lived in the United States for most of her life, and has earned a reputation as a fierce performer, with the ability to mesmerise audiences, small or large. She was recently the only reggae act at the Philadelphia Latin Festival, an annual event.
“She is a truly brilliant artist with great potential and I enjoyed working with her. She will be coming to Jamaica soon for us to do the video for the single,” Chaka Demus said.
Chaka Demus also released a second single, Dem A Chat, from the album on Independence Day, August 6.
“I have been doing a lot of interviews all over the world with radio stations and they are going crazy over the album. I worked with musicians like Jaswad, Danny Axeman, Squiddley Cole, Andrew Manning and the Firehouse Crew, so we have some amazing music,” he said.
The album will be officially released later this month.
