Veteran dancehall/reggae artists Chaka Demus and Pliers received notoriety in the ’90s for their global hit record Murder She Wrote.

The single sold more than a million copies worldwide, and in 2013, the same song is once again their ‘meal ticket’, courtesy of their recent performance at the 2013 BET Awards. According to Pliers, they are once again one of the most sought after acts from Jamaica.

Pliers, who was on his way to Spain, disclosed that their tour schedule has grown significantly over the last few weeks.

“It was a beautiful experience at the BET Awards. We have had experiences like that before at major events, but this one was special. It shows that our work has not gone unseen, and it is beautiful to know that our work was selected,” Pliers said.

Interestingly, the same song landed the duo a performance at the prestigious American Music Awards in 2007. On that occasion, the duo shared stage with multi-Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Alecia Keys. However, according to Pliers, 2013’s display at the BET Awards show gave them the ultimate comeback push.

“The attention has been greater than before because we made dancehall get respect internationally. We didn’t have any new single out for a while and those we released weren’t promoted properly. So this is good, we have been receiving calls from all over the world now,” he said.

After their tour of Spain, Chaka Demus and Pliers are plotting to embark on a monthlong European tour.

“The performance shed light on us again. So people who never remember us are reminded and we have also received new fans in the process,” Pliers said.
