Event promoter Darren Hamilton said the link with the past and present was a calculated one.
“We are pleased to present this combination of senior and junior artists for the second instalment of Live To Vinyl,” he said.
“Fred Locks’s catalogue includes local and international chart toppers. And Iba Mahr who’s currently representing roots rock reggae music also has both local and international chart toppers. Both are passionate not just only in the studio, but during their stage performances and messages. It’s important to showcase this combination to reggae lovers as this can give some insight of the history of the music through to the current whilst presenting a positive roots rocking reggae experience on the beaches of Cable Hut,” he said.
Fred Locks, whose given name is Stafford Elliott, is best known for his 1970s hit single Black Star Liner.
“The Cable Hut settings is the perfect place to get all cosy with my fans. I have a special performance lined up for them,” he said.
Fred Locks is currently working on two albums — My Testimony (Caveman) and Reaching Out To My Goals (self-produced).
Representing Vinyl will be the masters DJ Ivor Smith, Lee Tafari (Chip Lee) and DJ Talia.
