The Grand Stand at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, will come alive on November 30 as Wenton Promotions together with Mackeson host the inaugural 2013 Culture Reggae Fest.
Dubbed as one of the pinnacle reggae events for the year thus far, this first-time concert boasts a unique cast of illustrious Jamaican singers supported by an exclusive line-up of some of Trinidad and Tobago’s most prolific conscious artistes.
Headlining the iconic event will be veteran reggae crooner Luciano, who has cemented his name amongst the most respected Caribbean singers. Born Jepther McClymont, the seasoned vocalist has over 20 years experience in the business and has done multiple collaborations with some of the world’s top-ranked musicians.
Particularly known for inspirational songs such as “It’s Me Again Jah”, “In This Together”, “Moving Out Of Babaylon” and “Man Shall Not Live,” Luciano is internationally known for an uplifting but energetic performance. Fans of the singer can also look out for positive lyrics in the form of “Give Praise”, “Punchline”, “God is Greater than Man” and “Jah Blessing,” a world renowned favourite collaborated with the renowned Sizzla Kalonji.
Also coming to spread love at the Savannah will be “Blow Your Nose” singer, Everton Blender. Blender, born Everton Williams, shares a similar background with Luciano, and can be considered a living reggae legend. With uplifting hits like “Lift Up Your Head”, “Ghetto People Song” and We Nuh Fear,” Blender is once again expected to deliver another outstanding performance. And hailing all the way from St Thomas, Jamaica, is Dwight Duncan, aka Bushman. Infiltrating the conscious genre with mega-hit “Nyah Man Chant” back in 1997, Bushman has indeed been a consistent producer of great music. Adding to his hit-list are songs such as “Total Commitment”, “Somewhere”, “Fyah Bun A Weak Heart” and “Higher”, which have built a sound foundation for Bushman over the years.
Concluding the robust cast of Jamaican singers is none other than Duane Stephenson, who burst on to the scene with a well-received “August Town”. Stephenson however, is known for his special mix of gospel and reggae songs and is expected to captivate with his performance style. He is also globally recognised for songs like “Ghetto Pain”, “Better Tomorrow” and “Black Gold”.
And flying the red, white and black at Culture Reggae Fest will be Isasha, Prophet Benjamin, Jamelody, Dwain, SOK among others. Isasha, Benjamin and Jamelody have been musically consistent since their inception and as usual, they are expected to impress and represent TT and Rastafarianism to the fullest.
Sponsoring this event are Blue Waters, Monster Energy Drink, Magnum, 3Zero Platinum Rum and SWMCOL.
