ROOTS singer Qshan Deya has his eyes set on breaking into one of reggae’s traditional markets with Love Govern Us All, his second album.

The lanky vocalist, who is from Unity Island in St Vincent and the Grenadines, recently visited England to push the 17-track set.

“Wi try connect with promoters and Internet (radio) stations ’cause wi feel the base has grown there,” said Qshan.

Love Govern Us All was co-produced by Qshan and Garfield ‘Sampalue’ Phillips, best known for breaking Lady Saw in the mid-1990s.

The album contains a cover of country singer Jim Reeves’ Guilty with Lady G; Go 2 School with Tony Rebel and Get Out which was done with Half Pint.

It also includes Everything Tun Up which placed second in the 2011 Festival Song Contest.

While the English reggae scene is not as bouyant as 20 years ago, Qshan (born Kellis Quashie) still sees a market there for his music.

“England has always supported the music. There is a lovers rock energy there and people still love roots-reggae,” he said.

Love Govern Us All, a joint project from Diamond Rush Productions and Mystik Productions, is scheduled to be released in England in February.
