International mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis will perform in the Kingston College (KC) Chapel Choir Christmas Concerts which feature Handel’s Messiah, following her December 7 appearance in this celebrated work with the St Mark’s United Methodist Church Choir in Harlem, New York, in the United States.
Bryce-Davis has been hailed by the New York Times as a “striking mezzo-soprano” who “sang and spoke potently and moved vivaciously”, and by Opera News as one who “held the stage with admirable intensity and commitment”.
Audley Davidson, KC Chapel Choir director, said that Bryce-Davis will perform in two concerts to be held at the Church of The Conversion of St Paul in Portmore, St Catherine at 6 p.m. today; and at the University Chapel, Mona, at 5 p.m on Sunday.
The choir will also perform at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Molynes Road, on Sunday, December 29, at 5 p.m.; and the concert season will culminate at St John’s Anglican Church Hall, Milford Road, Ocho Rios, on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 4 p.m.
“This will be a unique opportunity for our choir members to perform with an accomplished soloist who has the experience, professional expertise and extensive repertoire of Ms Bryce-Davis,” Davidson said.
“We are pleased to note that Ms Bryce-Davis has local connections, in that, she was born in Mexico to Jamaican parents – Dr and Mrs Errol Bryce – and her aunt is Michelle Bromley, who is the organist at St George’s Anglican Church in Kingston,” Davidson pointed out.
