Reggae maestros Luciano Jah Messenger and Ras Zachari are set to rock Zambia.

Luciano who is also known as the Jah Messenger and Ras Zachari are due for a show on December 27 at Government Complex.

The two will be in the country courtesy of Genius Riddim Promotions.

Nicholas Muchindu who is the director of administration and his counterpart Still Jah Siankuku who is director of communications announced Genius Riddims’ plans to Times Entertainment.

Luciano and Ras Zachari are both based in Jamaica. Luciano was born Jepther McClymont on October 20, 1964 and is a second-generation Jamaican roots reggae artiste. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s, at the height of the “Rasta Renaissance” in dancehall music, beginning with the album One Way Ticket in 1994.

He is best known for albums such as Jah is my Navigator, Great Controversy, Serious Times, Rub-A-Dub Market, Write my Name and United States of Africa. Ras Zachari on the other hand was born in Jamaica as Bogle Broadie.

His fresh, unique sing jay vocal style and steadfast conscious and spiritually rooted lyrics are helping to secure his name at the forefront of the Jamaican and international Reggae scene. The concert will have Zambian artists such as Cry Blood, Ras Ziggy, Temple Psalmist and Tikudza performing.

Genius Riddims which was formed last year was created for the purpose of uplifting reggae music in the country.

“We are promising people good reggae artists and songs that they have never heard before. Everyone must come in large numbers,” said Muchindu.

The duo has also called on showgoers to follow tenets of reggae music which was good behaviour and self control.

The event’s tickets are being sold at Joy FM and will probably be on sale at the venue.

It is good to see local promoters bringing in International artists, especially conscious reggae artists.
