PapaSan:OneBlood

By Marlon Burrell—-

Christian artist Papa San released his latest album “One Blood” on January 21. The title track features Stitchie who gave a spectacular performance at the recently held Rebel Salute. The video for the track has been on Youtube since October. “One Blood” is the follow up to his 2012 project “My Story” and has an impressive list of guest artists besides Stitchie. Some of the other collaborators are: Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, DA T.R.U.T.H., DJ Nicholas, Ryan Mark, and Sherwin Gardner.

All tracks are produced by either his son Tyshane Thompson, his brother Maurice Gregory, or both except for one track which is produced by Tyshane and Tha Innacircle. Papa San is the first Caribbean gospel artist to make the Billboard Reggae Chart, as well as the first to win a Stellar Award which is the premier gospel music award show in the U.S.  I love the idea that Papa San collaborated with a variety of both Caribbean and American artists on the same album.

Since Papa San is well known in the mainstream gospel market, this is a great opportunity for some of the Caribbean gospel artists to get some well-deserved exposure. “One Blood” is already charting on iTunes in several countries including: #1 Reggae U.S.,  #2 UK Reggae,  and #1 Overall Trinidad & Tobago.
