MAKE it Bun Dem, the song by electronic dance artist Skrillex featuring Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The single was released in May 2012 and has sold over 501,587 copies in the United States, according to sales tracker Soundscan.
Make it Bun Dem is currently number three on Billboard’s Digital Reggae Singles chart. It had reached number one on that chart and entered charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, New Zealand, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
This is the third gold plaque for the 35-year-old Marley. He previously collected plaques for the album Welcome to Jamrock and single of the same name.
The album was released in September 2005 and certified gold in January 2006 while its title track was certified gold late last year. To date, the latter has sold 577,256 copies.
Marley is the second Jamaican artist to go gold in the past eight months. Last June, singer Gyptian’s 2010 hit Hold Yuh was certified gold for sales of over 500,000 copies in the US.
