Peter ‘Kush’ Goodwin—
ROOTS singer Peter ‘Kush’ Goodwin recently released his first album, From A Distance, a project he says has been in the works since 2011.
Distributed by American independent company, Hapilos21, From A Distance contains songs like Deep Within, Waters of Faith, Forgive Them and the title track.
“The songs are geared at lifting the spirit and offering motivation,” Goodwin told the Jamaica Observer.
Recorded live at Harry J, TG Music Studio and Tuff Gong studios, From A Distance is Goodwin’s biggest project since returning to Jamaica five years ago.
Goodwin, who is in his early 50s, was born in Manchester. He started out performing in churches in the May Pen area but by his late teens, became a member of the Black Kush Band along with brothers Winston and Dave McAnuff and Dave Wilson.
In addition to music, Goodwin works with homeless youth in Manchester through ‘Heilende Hande Ltd’ (Healing Hands), a charity founded by his German wife who died in 2009.
