DANCEHALL artist Tommy Lee Sparta had his travel documents seized and a stop order placed on him at all ports when he appeared at the Half-Way-Tree Rsident Magistrate’s Court in St Andrew last Tuesday.
Tommy Lee Sparta, whose real name is Leroy Russell, was appearing in court for the first time since being charged on February 14 for breaches of the Anti-Lottery Act. The artist is on $400,000 bail. Four other individuals were also charged.
Burt Samuels, attorney-at-law representing the 26-year-old entertainer, said he is confident his client will
be acquitted.
“Mr Russell, who is known by the stage name Tommy Lee Sparta, has one occupation and that is being an international recording artist and this can be proven. He is not a scammer,” Samuels told the Sunday Observer.
The entertainer is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 3.
The artist was arrested on February 3 on suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provisions) Act, 2013.
Tommy Lee Sparta is best known for songs like Shook, Psycho and Some Bwoy.
